Travel Advice

ALWAYS hand-carry your important documents during travel to the U.S.! Important documents include your passport, I-20, financial documents, Mason admission letter, International Student Check-in Sheet, and SEVIS fee receipt.

Airport Transportation

The Mason Transportation website lists the various airport transportation options.  International students often use the Super Shuttle to travel from the airport to Fairfax. It is cheaper than a taxi and more convenient than public transportation (not recommended if you have a lot of luggage).

Getting around Fairfax

If you are planning to use public transportation in Fairfax, we strongly recommend to download the free app "xtBus." You can view arrival estimates, stops and schedules at the touch of a button. The Mason Shuttle (operated by George Mason University) and the CUE Bus (operated by the City of Fairfax) are free for Mason students with a valid Mason ID card
